HOW TO FACE AN XCUM ULTRAMARATHON ADAPTING THE PMBOK METHODOLOGY TO THE CHALLENGE OF GETTING OUT YOUR 100% (PART 2)

This is the second part of a group of 6 POSTs that I would like to edit about sports preparation for ultramarathons, which are very important to me and that I really enjoy participating in these tests, let's continue with the second one.


Second part:

Planning process group.
The PMBOK methodology places a lot of emphasis on planning. Normally we do not like to plan because it requires you to know what you are going to do in the project, which is why Belbin proposes creating project groups that master the 9 essential roles so that the projects end up being fulfilled on time and delivering the milestones with the quality established from the beginning, to achieve this you have to plan.

Project scope management:

  • Create the WBS/WBS, which is a hierarchical breakdown of the total scope of work to be done to meet the project objectives. We must then know in depth what it means to prepare for an ultramarathon test.

  • I have carried out the exercise of establishing the areas in which we must detail the tasks and work to create the structure of work and exercises that we must control in the Odoo platform that we use to manage the ultramarathon project.


Project schedule management to execute the WBS::

Basically in this section we make a schedule of the tasks and dates, as well as the Milestones expected to be reached to face the first ultra and when each planned activity begins and exact dates to start training.

Additionally, we are going to continue using the Trainning Peaks application so that our strategic ally that is in charge of physical preparation introduces, in detail, the training sessions for weeks with an eye on the test. We used it in the tests on May 14 Gigante de Ruidera and Gigante de Piedra on June 4. We have analyzed the lessons learned and we are going to improve its use and integrate it with the KPIs and graphs.

This is a 7 day view of team member level drills. In the Odoo schedule we have the general activities of all the topics of the project and the WBS
